CCW Information

"California is a "may issue" state for permits to carry concealed guns. The willingness of issuing authorities in California ranges from No Issue in most urban areas to Shall Issue in rural counties. Additionally, the issuing authority can also impose restrictions on the CCW permit-holder, such as limiting concealed carry only to the purposes listed on the approved CCW permit application. However, concealed carry permits are valid statewide, regardless of where they were issued. This creates a situation where residents in presumptively No Issue locations such as Los Angeles and San Francisco cannot lawfully carry a concealed firearm, but residents from other counties with more permissive CCW issuance policies can lawfully carry within these same jurisdictions. California does not recognize concealed carry permits issued by other states, and non-residents are generally forbidden from obtaining a California concealed carry permit."

The Apple Valley Gun Club offers a CCW Prep Course. This class is to help you prepare for the shooting portion of your CCW qualification and does not cover the legal responsibilities of concealed carry. On the range you will shoot the same style target, B-27, that is used by the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office. The class includes both classroom and range time. There will be discussion on the fundamentals of shooting, such as grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, breath control, trigger control and shot placement.
Supplies and Equipment: Bring the firearms you have or will list on your CCW application. You are allowed up to three (3) firearms. You will have the opportunity to shoot more than once, so it is recommended that you bring one box of 50 rounds of ammunition per firearm. Please leave your firearm and ammunition in your locked vehicle until instructed otherwise by an instructor. Adequate eye and hearing protection. Although not required, it is strongly recommended that you bring electronic hearing protection. Electronic hearing protection will allow you to hear all instruction, range commands and receive the most benefit from the course. Time will be spent outside, so please dress accordingly for the weather. Pen, pencil and notepad.

This class is held on the second Tuesday of the Month.
