Conservation and Education

Local Conservation Groups

High Desert Quail Forever meets at AVGC.  We host a monthly Trap Shoot at the Apple Valley Gun Club on the first Sunday of each month from 8 am to 11 am.   Business meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday in the Clubhouse at 6:00pm.

Society for the Conservation of Big Horn Sheep meets at Bass Pro Shops every 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6 pm in the small conference room behind the indoor range on the second floor.  Details can be found at http://www.sheepsociety.com

Hunter Education Program

The Apple Valley Gun Club hosts the California Department of Fish and Game Hunter Education Program.  Classes are scheduled monthly, normally on the third Saturday of each month.  This course is an Internet supported, four hour class. In order to register you must complete the course prework at: http://homestudy.ihea.com/  The Internet pre-course is free. The instructors will also meet with you prior to the class to give you a Today's Hunter in California workbook and some other study materials. Once you have completed the pre-work course, download your test results, complete your workbook, and attend our next four hour test session. The test session is $5 for club members and $10 for non-members.  Children under 18 are free.   Also, contact the instructors for upcoming Department of Fish and Game Advanced Clinics.
